Sébastien Ruest, Vice President, Services Research, IDC Canada

Challenged like never before by a world that is increasingly flat, the world of service delivery is undergoing its own radical transformation. This transformation involves customer ability to access not just new types of service delivery models, ranging from utility computing and SaaS (software-as-a-service) to online providers but also services from any location on the planet. Additionally, customers can increasingly procure and integrate new services more quickly and flexibly than ever before. The goal of this session will be to provide companies, which are looking to compete effectively as providers of IT and business process services, a framework of the key capabilities of service delivery that will be needed to compete in this rapidly changing world. Additionally this session will highlight how factors such as service innovation, transformation, localization, globalization and flexibility will play key roles in meeting customer requirements needed to optimize productivity, ensure market expansion and minimize costs.

As Vice President, Services Research, Sebastien Ruest is responsible for leading IDC's research in the Canadian Services marketplace. Mr. Ruest heads a seasoned team of analysts who cover the broad range of IT related services, from Consulting and Integration, Corporate e-Learning, Infrastructure Optimization and the growing Outsourcing market. In addition, his team focuses on Global Delivery Models, BPO and Utility/On Demand services.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Ruest had close to 10 years experience in corporate strategy, sales & marketing and research at IBM. Most recently, Mr. Ruest was a member of IBM's Americas Market Intelligence Group, where he led a team responsible for providing insights into opportunities, buyer behaviour and competitive environments for IBM Canada. Mr. Ruest began his career with IBM Global Services as the project leader of a large team responsible for designing Global Contact Centre Outsourcing solutions.

Mr. Ruest holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Edinburgh School of Business. He also holds a Masters of Science degree and a bachelor's degree, both from McGill University. He is fluent in French.
